Enabling the Disabled Manage Test Controller window in Visual Studio When Using After Configuring a New Test Rig

This post discusses the issue that testers face while using the load test rig created with Visual Studio for the first time.After configuring the test controller and test agent for the test rig, you might need to track the status of the controller and agents. For that purpose, you can use Manage Test Controller section of the visual studio.

Prerequisites:
Load test rig configured using several machines


  • Go to visual studio and create load test
  • Select the load test menu in visual studio--> Select Manage Test Controller
    You would be able to see Controller text field of  the Manage test Controller window doesn't display  the controller name.Also, you would be able to see this window is disabled.Most users misunderstand this as an issue with test rig configuration


This is your first time trying to use the test controller. Hence, you would not be able to see the test controller in the list. So,you have to manually enter the test controller machine name to the list. Then Manage Test Controller window will get enabled and display the agent details of this controller.
